How It Works

A simple, four-step process

From your first inquiry to a program decision, a participating contractor guides you at every step. Here's what to expect.

1

Connect With a Contractor

Complete the short form on this site — it takes about two minutes and there is no cost. We match your inquiry with a participating contractor who serves your area and works with the projects you're interested in.

  • You'll typically hear from a participating contractor within one business day.
  • Your information is only shared with a participating contractor after you authorize it on the form.
2

Submit Your Application

Your contractor reviews your project with you — which windows or doors, the condition of your home, and what you're hoping to accomplish — and assists you in preparing and submitting an application to the assistance program.

  • The contractor handles the paperwork with you, so nothing falls through the cracks.
  • An in-home visit lets the contractor take exact measurements and give you accurate project details.
3

Independent Review

HEUAP independently reviews every application using current program guidelines. Review considers eligibility requirements, the qualifying project categories, participating contractor requirements, and available funding.

  • Most applications are reviewed within one business day.
  • Submitting an application does not guarantee approval or funding.
4

Receive Your Decision

If approved, your contractor explains your assistance award and how it may apply to your project — including timing, scope, and next steps to get your project underway.

  • If an application isn't approved, your contractor can discuss other options for your project.
